Team Spotlight: Rajesh Mulchandani

Welcome to Clue Software’s Team Spotlight, where we showcase the exceptional individuals behind our leading intelligence and investigation management software.
Today, we talk to Tech Team Lead, Rajesh Mulchandani.
Hi Raj, tell us a bit about your background.
I completed my Computer Engineering degree in 1998. My first job involved installing dial-up and ISDN modems for both corporate clients and home users. It was here that I gained my first exposure to the internet and web programming, eventually transitioning into software development a couple of years later. Over the years, I’ve worked across various sectors, including Utilities, Education, Finance, Insurance, and Healthcare. I’ve also been involved with two startups in the past. About 10 years ago, I transitioned into a Technical Lead role. I’m passionate about technology and thrive on solving challenges. I’m always eager to expand my knowledge and go the extra mile to deliver more than what is expected.
What does your role at Clue entail?
I joined Clue at the end of 2023 as a Technical Lead, where I spearheaded the formation of the new Integration and Refactoring team. My team is responsible for creating and maintaining customer integrations with Clue, developing reusable patterns that enable customers to quickly integrate for data lookup and synchronization. This year, we’re also focused on enhancing Clue’s security, reliability, and upgrading the platform with the latest technologies.
Who/what inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
In 1992, when I was in year 10, I joined a local computer training centre during the school summer holidays. I was amazed by what computers could do, even though we were working with a DOS-based system and using BASIC programming. This marked the beginning of my journey with computers, which eventually led me to pursue a degree in Computer Science.
What motivates you about working at Clue?
In two simple words: people and purpose. Everyone at Clue is deeply driven to make the world a safer place. I believe there’s so much more we can do, leveraging technology like AI and integrating with other systems to share knowledge and create a safer world for all.
What’s your secret talent no one knows about?
I’m not great at remembering names and faces, but I have a strong knack for remembering numbers—like how much we paid for something years ago or the current share price of a stock I’m following.
Tell me something about you that most people don’t know.
I’m an avid badminton player and enjoy bringing people together through the sport. I started my first club back when I was in year 8 and there was only one court in our town. Since then, I’ve founded several social badminton clubs. My current club, which I started about 10 years ago with just four members, now has a thriving community of 30. We play every Sunday year-round. We’ve also created a walking group within our badminton community, taking on challenges like the 23-mile Cheltenham Three Peaks and walking the entire length of the Cotswold Way.
In terms of successes, which accomplishments are you most proud of?
There have been quite a few, but the one I’m most proud of is completing the Tour of Mont Blanc—110 miles in 10 days carrying my backpack. It’s been the best walk of my life so far.
Why do you enjoy working at Clue?
At Clue, I’m constantly learning something new each week, and I truly enjoy being part of the team that’s driving the next phase of technology here.
